Recording the Image

CDEveryWhere does not record to CDR discs. You must use other software that supports writing an ISO image file. There are many different CDR drives and many different applications used to write CDR discs. Therefore, the issues with each software package cannot be described here.

Some suggestions are made regarding popular packages. All products mentioned are registered trademarks or trademarks of their respective companies.

Microsoft Windows

Adaptec Easy CD Creator version 3.5 and above supports writing ISO image files. (Users of version 3.0 may upgrade to 3.5 for free. The upgrade is available at http://www.adaptec.com.

NOTE: Version 3.6 is an OEM version and contains different features for each manufacturer. Your manufacturer may have elected not to include support for ISO image files.

Version 3.5 and 4.0

In order to record the image you must use the "File | Create CD from Disc Image..." option. Adding the image file to the layout window will not work. After choosing this menu option the "Select Image" window will appear, you must select "ISO Image Files" as the type. Select the image file created by CDEveryWhere and click "Open".

CDRWin from Golden Hawk Technology will record ISO files, http://www.cdrwin.com. Click the "File Backup and Tools" button. Select "Record an ISO9660 Image File" for the Backup/Tool Operation. In the Recording Options, make sure "Disc Type" is set to "CDROM" and "Track Mode" is set to "MODE1". Click the "START" button.

Nero Burning ROM

To record the ISO file using Nero Burning ROM, follow this procedure:

  1. Start Nero
  2. Choose the menu command "File -> Burn CD Image"
  3. Choose as file type: all files (*.*)
  4. Select the ISO image file
  5. Now you will see a dialog, asking you, if you want to supply detailed image parameters. This is necessary, since Nero needs to know exactly, what format the image file has to be able to burn it correctly.
  6. Enter the following parameters:
    - Mode 1
    - 2048 bytes per sector
    - 0 bytes header and trailer
    - no swapping or scrambling
  7. Click on "burn" and use an empty CDR.

Macintosh

Toast from Adaptec will record ISO files. Please see your Toast documentation for instructions.

Unix

Linux users can use cdrecord to write the image. It is available under the GPL and available at most ftp://sunsite.unc.edu mirrors. It supports most SCSI CDR drives.
