Layout file (*.cde) is using new encoding method.
With CDEveryWhere you can save your current work on CD image layout into the layout file (*.cde).
Although this change makes this version incompatible with the 2.0 and prior versions, by this change CDEverywhere is enabled to support cde files in Mac OS X. If you are not required to run CDEveryWhere on Mac OS X, upgrading to this version is not necessary.
Note: Layout files created by CDEveryWhere Mac OS X Version are not readable by CDEveryWhere 2.0. There will be no application available to convert *.cde layout file between 2.0 and Mac OS X Version.
Resultant CD supports Mac OS X as well as traditional Mac OS 9 and prior.
On Mac OS X, CDEveryWhere setup the HFS's type and creator attributes (in the resource forks) based on the extension of the file name so that the CD can be read natively as HFS CD on Mac OS 9 and prior. Mac OS X mounts the HFS CD by default.
AutoStart Feature Not Available on Mac OS X
CDEveryWhere set up the feature called QuickTime AutoStart. Mac OS quietly discontinued this feature due to the security problem. There is no way to auto start a file on a data CD on Mac OS X anymore. In fact, on Mac OS X, there is no standard way to open a particular file on a CD, such as autorun.inf file on Windows. How a Mac OS X behaves is highly depending on the user specific settings. In a sense, Mac OS X works similar to Linux systems.
Note: The rsultant CD still auto start on Mac OS 9 or 8.
CDEveryWhere Server is not available.
Due to the version conflict in Mac OS's, CDEverywhere Server is not available for this version. You are not able to access CDEveryWhere Server running on Mac OS 9 from Mac OS X. What is CDEveryWhere Server?
Upgrades to this version from 2.0 are not available.
License for CDEveryWhere Mac OS X is separated from CDEveryWhere 2.0. If you a CDEveryWhere 2.x or 1.x user, your license is not valid for the CDEveryWhere Mac OS X version.
